Comparing the SHA256, SHA1, and MD5 hashes of your downloaded file with the official published ones will provide additional assurance that the download is legitimate and has not been modified. You can compare the hashes with programs included with macOS without the need to install additional software.

To prepare for verifying signatures, you should download and install GnuPG 2.2.3 or higher, and then add the Tunnelblick Security GnuPG public key (key ID 6BB9367E, fingerprint 76DF 975A 1C56 4277 4FB0 9868 FF5F D80E 6BB9 367E) to your trusted GnuPG keyring by typing the following into /Applications/Utilities/Terminal:
These downloads have been contributed by users and usually help deal with special circumstances. They are not endorsed or checked by the Tunnelblick project, and you use them at your own risk. To contribute a download, send it to the developers or post it on the Tunnelblick Discussion Group.
In June 2015 there was much discussion (and outrage) about SourceForge providing downloads that contain unwanted or malicious software; SourceForge has changed their policies to help avoid this. Tunnelblick binaries were hosted on SourceForge from the fall of 2013, when Google Code stopped hosting new binaries, until 2015-07-17, when they were moved from SourceForge to GitHub.
Tunnelblick protects against unwanted software insertions by publishing the SHA1 and MD5 hashes for each of our downloads. You should verify the hashes of all Tunnelblick downloads by following the instructions above.
When you install any application, including Tunnelblick, after it has been downloaded normally, macOS Mojave and higher send information to Apple (they "phone home"). macOS Catalina and higher also "phone home" each time you launch any application, including Tunnelblick.
You can avoid these behaviors, but you will be disabling security checks which macOS would normally do on a downloaded program, including checks that the program is correctly notarized and has been found to not contain malware.
This will download the file to your Desktop without the flag that indicates the file was downloaded from the Internet. When that flag is present, macOS Mojave and higher "phone home" when the downloaded file is double-clicked to install it; when the flag is not present, macOS Mojave doesn't.
[1] Tunnelblick downloads are redirected from the tunnelblick.net website to GitHub, which may redirect them further. Typically one or more tiny downloads (a few hundred bytes each) provide information about the redirection, and the final larger download is the desired file.
This post will aggregate a collection of links and resources for finding and downloading old Mac software, including old Mac system software, old Macintosh applications, and more, for everything from older Intel Macs, to PowerPC Macs, to 68040 and 030 Macs.
I think the theory behind abandonware is that it has long since been abandoned by the developers and creators and so it becomes available to download, but ultimately I do not know much about that aside from it makes downloading old Mac games and old DOS PC games very easy.
But typically you have to create an ISO file from to load into Boxer, and many of the downloads on MyAbandonWare are bin/cue files so convert the bin/cue to ISO first with an app like BChunk or Roxio Toast
This is about downloading old Mac OS software, like System 7, Mac OS 8, or ResEdit, KidPix, or Hypercard, specifically for old Macs. This article has nothing to do with APFS or High Sierra, High Sierra is a newer operating system, like Mojave, etc.
This is an article about where to find and download old Mac software, not an article about which computer processor architectures can run which versions of system software. Please correct your comment.
Although originally paid, Apple later allowed free downloads of the OS, especially for customers of older and no longer officially supported Mac computers, starting on June 30, 2021.[15] The same practice was applied to its successor, OS X Mountain Lion.
Apple did not initially announce any physical media distribution for Lion, such as a set of CD-ROMs or a DVD-ROM as used for past releases. Instead, the operating system was said to be available exclusively as a download from the Mac App Store for US$29.99.[17][18] The only prior version of OS X that supports the Mac App Store is Snow Leopard, which implied that any machines that support Lion currently running Tiger or Leopard would first have to be upgraded to Snow Leopard, as opposed to allowing a direct upgrade to Lion.
Apple later announced two alternative distribution mechanisms for the benefit of users without broadband Internet access: in-store downloads at retail Apple Stores, and a USB flash drive containing the OS, priced at US$69, available through the online Apple Store beginning in August.[2] On August 4, 2011, Apple started to take orders for OS X Lion's USB installation flash drives for $69.99.[19]
Some new features were announced at the "Back to the Mac" keynote in October 2010, and the Apple website was updated in February 2011 with more details. Other features were announced at the WWDC 2011 keynote or on Apple's OS X Lion Web site after the keynote. Apple states that there are over 250 new or changed features in Lion, including:
Very old versions of Mac OS X came on a disk and any security updates came via Software Update. Since the arrival of the Mac App Store in 2011 (as an update to Snow Leopard) versions of Mac OS X and macOS have been available to download via the Mac App Store.
However, that changed slightly with Mojave, which arrived in 2018. Now operating system updates come in via a new Software Updates pane in System Preferences. You can still find the software in the Mac App Store, but you will also see it in System Preferences > Software Update. One of the benefits of this is that your Mac can be set to automatically download the latest updates and install them, keeping your Mac up-to-date with minimum effort on your part.
Pacifist opens up .pkg installer packages, .dmg disk images, .zip, .tar. tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .pax, and .xar archives and more, and lets you extract or install individual files out of them. This is useful if you need to install just one file out of a package instead of the entire package (for example, if you deleted your Preview application and need to reinstall it, but not the whole operating system), or if you want to inspect a downloaded package to see what it will do before installing it. Pacifist can also load some archive types over HTTP, in case you want to extract just a single file from a large .zip archive without waiting for the entire archive to download. Finally, Pacifist can examine the kernel extensions installed in your system to let you see what installer installed them, and whether the installer was made by Apple or a third-party.
If you want to work with a version of OSX older than Mavericks (e.g. 10.8 Mountain Lion) then you can download an older version of DiskMaker X from their website which works with the older installers.

Apple did not at first report any physical media circulation for Lion, for example, a lot of CD-ROMs or a DVD-ROM as utilized for past discharges. Rather, the working framework was said to be accessible only as a download from the Mac App Store for US$29.99. The main earlier form of OS X that underpins the Mac App Store in Snow Leopard, which suggested that any machines that help Lion at present running Tiger or Leopard would initially be moved up to Snow Leopard, instead of enabling an immediate move up to Lion.
The main reason for which people preferred downloading apps from the App Store is that it would just download the stub installer (web installer) which is little in size. The real Operating System will begin introducing after running the stub installer.

The fact that all parties must have AirDrop open to be visible to others prevents the potential for opportunistic spammers or malicious users to bombard everyone nearby with requests to download their files. You have to intentionally open up hailing frequencies before AirDrop will even put you on the radar of other nearby systems. When you're finished, simply closing the Finder's AirDrop window (or changing the active window to another Finder location) again removes your system from view by nearby users, returning the AirDrop icon to its static form (below).
Apple has kept OS X 10.7 Lion and OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion available for customers who have machines limited to the older software, but until recently, Apple was charging $19.99 to get download codes for the updates.
Mavericks was free to download, and Apple has not charged for Mac software since then outside of the legacy Lion and Mountain Lion updates. Apple also used to have OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard available for a fee, but it is no longer purchasable. 2ff7e9595c
